Privacy Policy
Made In the Hood LLC Last updated: August 1, 2026
This policy covers madeinthehood.com and any order you place through it.
We are a small clothing brand in New Orleans. We collect the least we can get away with, we don't sell anything about you to anybody, and this page explains exactly what happens to what we do collect.
What we collect
When you buy something:
- Your name
- Your email address
- Your phone number
- Your shipping address, if you're having it shipped
- What you ordered, and which size
When you ask about a special pickup:
- Your name, and the best way to reach you
- Whatever you tell us about what you're looking for
When you sign up for texts or emails:
- Your phone number or email address, and the date and time you signed up
- The exact wording of the permission you agreed to, saved word for word
- The internet address of the device you signed up from, and which browser it was
The last two exist to protect you as much as us: they are the proof that you actually asked for these messages, and that we didn't add you to anything you didn't agree to.
Automatically, when you visit:
- Visit counts. Which pages get opened, what site sent you here, and roughly what part of the world the visit came from. None of it is tied to your name.
- How the page gets used. Where people tap, how far they scroll, and where they get stuck — so we can tell which pieces people actually look at, and fix the parts of the site that confuse people. To do that, one of these tools saves a small file in your browser so it can tell one visit apart from the next. It may also record how a visit moved through the page.
What you type is hidden from both of these. Your address, your phone number, and your card details are blocked from being recorded — automatically, not because someone remembered to turn it on. We look at this to fix the site, not to watch you.
What we never see
Your card number never touches our website. When you pay, you're handed to Stripe, which is a payment company used by millions of businesses. They take the card, they hold it, and they tell us one thing: paid, or not paid. We could not look up your card number if we wanted to. We also never see your CVV, your PIN, or your bank login.
Why we collect it
| What | What it's for |
|---|---|
| Name, email, address | Getting your order to you, and sending you a receipt |
| Phone number | Texting you if there's a problem with your order — and drop announcements, but only if you asked for those |
| What you ordered | Filling it, and knowing what's still on the shelf |
| Traffic counts | Knowing which pieces people actually look at |
That's the whole list. We don't build advertising profiles and we don't run ads that follow you around.
Who else handles it
To run the store at all, a few companies process pieces of this on our behalf. They work for us, under contract. None of them are allowed to use your information for their own purposes.
| Company | What they do | What they see |
|---|---|---|
| Stripe | Takes the payment | Your card, your name, your billing details |
| Netlify | Hosts the website | Standard server logs |
| Airtable | Holds the order records | Your order, and how to reach you about it |
| ShipStation | Prints the shipping label | Your name and shipping address |
| LeadConnector | Sends order texts | Your phone number, if you gave one |
| Plausible | Counts visits | Nothing that identifies you — no cookies, no profile, no ad tracking |
| PostHog | Shows us how the site gets used | Taps, scrolls, and which pages you moved between. Not your name, and not anything you typed. |
We do not sell your information. We do not rent it, trade it, or hand it to advertisers. If that ever changed, this page would change first and you'd get the chance to opt out before it did.
The only other times anything leaves: if a court orders it, or if the business is ever sold and the customer records go with it — in which case this policy follows them.
Texts
You will only ever get a marketing text from us if you checked the box asking for one. The box is never checked for you.
- What we send: new drop announcements, restocks, and pickup reminders.
- How often: usually a few times a month, and more in a drop week. We're not going to blow up your phone.
- Message and data rates may apply — that's between you and your carrier, not us.
- To stop: reply STOP to any message. That's it, you're out, immediately.
- For help: reply HELP, or email us at the address at the bottom of this page.
We do not share your phone number with anybody for their marketing. Not ever, not to anyone. Consent to text you is not sold, rented, or passed along — it stays with us.
Order updates about something you actually bought are separate from marketing, and you'll get those whether or not you opted into drop announcements.
Emails
Same idea. You get order receipts because you bought something. You only get drop announcements if you asked for them, and every one of those has an unsubscribe link at the bottom that works on the first click.
How long we keep it
- Order records: seven years. Not our choice — that's how long tax records have to stay.
- Your marketing sign-up: until you opt out, then we keep a note that you opted out so we don't accidentally add you back.
- Special pickup inquiries: one year, then deleted.
- Visit counts: anonymous from the start, so there's nothing in them to delete.
- Site-usage recordings: twelve months, then they age out on their own.
Your say over it
Email us at the address below and we'll do any of these, free, within thirty days:
- Tell you everything we have on you
- Fix anything that's wrong
- Delete you — except order records we're legally required to hold for taxes
- Take you off every marketing list
If you live in California, Colorado, Connecticut, Virginia, or another state with its own privacy law, you have these rights formally, plus the right to not be discriminated against for using them. We treat everybody the same way regardless of where you live, so ask and it's done.
Kids
This store isn't for children under 13 and we don't knowingly collect anything from them. If you're a parent and you think we have, email us and it's gone same day.
Security
Everything moves over an encrypted connection. Payment details are held by Stripe, who are audited for exactly this. Order records are limited to the people who need them to fill your order.
No website can promise it will never be broken into. What we can promise is that we deliberately hold as little about you as the store can function on — so there is not much sitting here to take.
Changes
If this policy changes we update the date at the top. If it changes in a way that actually affects you, we'll say so directly rather than quietly editing the page.
